Personal Background

Paul Vachon was born in Augusta, Maine on May 16, 1954. He was the youngest of three children. His parents were hard workers - his dad working at the local mill and his mom working in the local shoe factory. He had a very modest upbringing and as he went through school, he attended St. Augustine School, Buker School, and the Cony High School.

Not the most stellar student, upon graduation Paul was ready to enter the workforce. At this point, he didn't think he could get into any college. Enter Betty Brailey, an angel who told Paul that he was going to college - no matter what!! With Betty's help, Paul was accepted into the University of Maine at Farmington, where he went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education.

Somewhere along the way, while working at the Augusta Recreation, Paul met his future wife, Debbie St.Pierre. Paul married Debbie on March 31, 1978. They have been married for 34 years and have three children, 34 year old twins Amy and Aaron and Adam who is 26. Amy is an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Maine and Aaron is a sixth grade teacher in Windham, Maine. Adam works as an actuarial analyst for Milliman, Inc in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
